Who Won in the Game “Kyz-Jigit Sarmerden”?

On March 14 in K.Tynystanov Gathering Hall the Game “Kyz-Jigit Sarmerden” took place. The event was attended by the University Rector, Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Balci, Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Huseyin Ogut, and students.

Sarmerden started with recital of the epic “Manas”. “Sarmerden is one of the games that best reflects the culture of the Kyrgyz people, customs and traditions. The fact that such a game has not been forgotten, and has been passed on from generation to generation creates a sense of pride,” the Rector, Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Balci, said in his opening remarks.

During the game young ladies and boys were singing songs and playing national games by taking turns. In addition, they were puzzling riddles, telling proverbs and tongue-twisters.

At the end since the two parties received equal number of scores, a poems contest took place on the request of the young men.

At last young ladies were named the winners for reciting some original poems. We note that the game sarmerden is held every year.
